MY APPROACH
Many of my clients seek confidential counselling to assist with complex circumstances and often confusing or painful relationships and feelings: be it at work or home. Common issues are burnout, loss of meaning, worry, feeling overwhelmed, alone or detached. I seek to enable clients to re-connect with themselves and others with enhanced emotional awareness. This can enable a greater sense of freedom and balance with renewed wellbeing and resilience.

Current issues may be linked back to childhood and other major life experiences. How we work is very much a collaborative process to ensure that you feel comfortable. We may work in a variety of ways, but always at your pace. I draw on a range of theories and techniques to best meets your needs.

A safely boundaried, genuine and caring therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work. I maintain an open and curious mind, balancing gentle challenge with support. Counselling offers you the experience of being heard, valued and understood. I work with individual adults over 18 for short or longer-term face-to-face therapy and phone or online counselling.

AREAS I CAN HELP WITH INCLUDE:
Abuse, ageing issues, anger, anxiety, Asperger's syndrome and autism, bereavement, bullying, childhood abuse, cultural issues, depression, disability, discrimination, health-related issues, identity, life changes, loss, low mood, low self-esteem, men's issues, personal development, relationship issues, spirituality, stress, trauma, work-related issues and women’s issues.

EXPERIENCE
I previously worked for many years as a solicitor in the field of family law, including heading up teams of lawyers, so gaining particular experience of the demands of a pressurised environment and conflict in relationships.

I am experienced in working with relationships and communication styles, anger and difficulties with assertiveness, chronic illness and different ability/disability and issues facing the older-age client. I also have a particular interest in the impact of childhood trauma and attachment styles on adult patterns of relating.

Engaging in a course of counselling is an investment in yourself. It provides a regular and protected time of the day allowing “time out” away from other activities and stresses. Neuroscience has demonstrated the transformative potential of therapy, through the ability for the growth of new brain pathways to support new and more satisfying ways of relating and being in the world.

I also volunteer as a counsellor in a large mental health charity working with self-referred and NHS- referred clients. I am a member of The Royal Society of Medicine, The Law Society and Resolution.

SESSION FEE
My in-person fees range from £65 to £90 per session dependent on time and location. Online sessions are £60. Some fee concessions are available.
