MY APPROACH
Initially I create a safe atmosphere by listening unjudgementally, building trust with you. Once a strong relationship is in place I lean towards creative, experiential approaches such as drawing, guided meditations and mindfulness providing you with tools of support and exploration but mainly I just listen so that together we can find a way out of your dilemma(s). My approach is one of authenticity rather than positivity and I am 100% committed to being with you through this sometimes difficult work.
I work with individuals, 18 and over. The counselling I offer can be short or longer term (we can decide on the duration together) and can either be in person or online (Zoom).
AREAS I CAN HELP WITH INCLUDE:
Anxiety, bereavement, grief, loss, coercive control, domestic abuse, depression, self-esteem, survivors of narcissistic abuse, cancer and the immigrant experience.
EXPERIENCE
Since 2017 I have been counselling at a Women’s Centre working with survivors of domestic violence and coercive control. I also counselled briefly at a bereavement charity in early 2020.
As someone who has experienced the impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment in 2015-16 I have a personal understanding of the complicated feelings that arise of from these diagnoses and treatment on the individual. I believe that counselling can truly be of help through this very difficult time from diagnosis through treatment, the early aftermath and PTSD symptoms that may appear years later.
